Simon Kuper is a columnist for the Financial Times Magazine, writing about sport, books, the Netherlands and other subjects. He was born in Uganda and grew up in London, the Netherlands, the US, Sweden and Jamaica. He studied at Oxford, Harvard and the Technische Universität of West Berlin. His journalism looks at sport and other topics through an anthropologist’s eye, placing it within a country, a time, a society. His books include Football Against the Enemy (1994) and The Football Men (2011).
